At the time of Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, we decided to offer you the review of a smartphone very similar (in some respects, obviously not for everyone) to the new top of the range of Xiaomi, however, offered at a much lower price. Let's talk about Oukitel Mix 2, a tri-bezeless 6-inch 18: 9 screen, 6 GB of RAM and a character to sell. All for less than $200.
The design of Oukitel Mix 2 is - needless to say - that of Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s, at least on the front. In fact we find only one lower frame, actually a bit 'larger than that of the Xiaomi smartphone, in which we also find the front camera (which will require to rotate the device at a selfie) and the LED notification. The capsule, on the other hand, is inserted in the very small upper frame and nevertheless still guarantees excellent quality during listening during calls.
On the front to be the master, however, is the beautiful screen, which we will discuss in a moment. On the back of the design is instead that of an iPhone 8 Plus: glass and double horizontal camera, but here there is also a sensor of circular imprint. Accurate but not fast. Indeed, rather slow, it must be said.
The screen, as we said, is the main attraction on this device and basically it is also the reason why choose it: that you attract the form-factor or simply the concept of tri-bezeless smartphone to Mi Mix, the panel of Oukitel Mix 2 does not leave indifferent. However, it is a 6-inch IPS with a maximum resolution of 1080p, so nothing that has not already been seen for some time now, but still catches with an excellent color balance, with deep blacks and pronounced contrasts. Good viewing angles and maximum brightness are also good.
On board Oukitel Mix 2 we find one of Mediatek's most performing processors, namely the Helio P25, accompanied by as many as 6 GB of RAM memory. Technical equipment almost impressive for a smartphone so cheap, but if on one side there are 6 GB of actual RAM and that are diligently managed by the system, the other Helio P25 ensures good performance but clearly we are far from the results put on display by latest Snapdragon, Kirin or Exynoss processors. Oukitel Mix 2 needs a few moments (but really very little) to perform all the operations you assign to it in an easy way. The management of the RAM, as anticipated, is excellent and at the "download" of processes you will always have between 4 and 5 GB of RAM available. Temperatures in the standard with the phone that warms up slightly only after a particularly intense use but without however jeopardizing the standard experience of use.
The connectivity of this device is surprising. Bluetooth 5.0 is missing and also the NFC is missing, but we find an excellent support for Italian 4G / LTE networks, the dual band WiFi that allows you to connect to 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz networks. Excellent reception (certainly not at the level of top of the range, but still very good) and also the quality of the audio in call is excellent.
The audio of Oukitel Mix 2 is mono and exits from the single speaker placed at the bottom of the device. The volume is not very high and the equalization is quite flat, although it is in line with that of other smartphones of the same category. Fortunately, there is also the jack connector that allows us to connect headphones with cable to get a higher quality of listening than we can appreciate through the speaker of the smartphone. Also good microphone with which we will return a sound always satisfactory output.
Unfortunately on this smartphone we do not find the latest version of Android (Oreo). In fact, there is Android 7.0 Nougat in a totally stock version. The graphics are not beautiful and the additional features are the classic Mediatek (programmed on / off, gesture on screen and off, etc.). However, we report the presence of the fundamental one-hand mode, which is activated with a horizontal gesture on the navigation bar in style Huawei / Xiaomi, which allows you to use in a simpler way a device with such important dimensions and weight. It will not be a drama not to have Oreo, let's be clear, but for a smartphone of 2018 can only be a defect to be born with an "old" version of Android.
Good also the cameras of Oukitel Mix 2. It must be said, however, that on the back we find two: the main sensor is 16 megapixel (which for software interpolation reaches 21 megapixels) and the secondary is 0.3 megapixel (2 megapixel by interpolation). The quality of the photos is very good during the day, with the phone proving able to give small satisfactions in the absence of very strong lights or shadows. Otherwise, in these situations it could have some problem exposing the scene correctly. At night there are some problems with the speed and with the precision of the focus, as well as being progressively more evident digital noise with the decrease of ambient light. Selfies are purchased with a good detail from the 8 megapixel camera, while the videos, medium-low quality, reach a maximum of 1080p with digital stabilization a bit 'fluctuating and with a level of detail certainly not at the top.
Excellent, there is nothing else to say. It is a 4,000 mAh that manages to restore excellent general autonomy. You will never have problems getting to the end of the day even with a good amount of residual autonomy. With a not particularly stressful use you will probably be able to cover even two days of use. So we congratulate Oukitel for having pulled out a great smartphone able to accompany the user without problems during normal use.
To this is added, moreover, the classic mode of energy saving Android (not very efficient, in fact) that allows to extend, albeit slightly, the results obtainable with a single charge of the device. Charge that unfortunately is not very fast with the power supply included in the package.
